TC CHAPTER TENNANT TOUR

By Pat Cullen

A total of 49 people signed up for the January 14th tour of the Tennant Company in Minneapolis sponsored by the Twin Cities Chapter of the CCAI. After years of research and preparation, Tennant installed a very complete and  state of the art powder coating system in their Golden Valley, MN plant.

Tennant has been in business over 135 years and is a recognized leader in designing, manufacturing and marketing of industrial and commercial sweepers and floor cleaning machines and scrubbers. Tennant is headquartered in Minneapolis and has worldwide

marketing and manufacturing operations.

After a continental breakfast and registration, Chapter Co-Vice President Jim Henningsen welcomed the Chapter guests and then Mellissa Engelhart, Director of Business Marketing for Tennant gave a very informative overview of the company’s operations and history dating back to 1870.

Mike Reznicek who is a Special Projects Manager for Tennant and who was primarily responsible for the new finishing system gave the tour group an overview of what they were about to see on the factory floor. The tour attendees were split up into three groups with a Tennant tour guide assigned to each group.

In addition to a generally automated and computer controlled finishing system (parts conveyor, washer, dry-off oven, powder booth and cure oven), the tour group was escorted to the other various facets of the Tennant manufacturing operation including fabrication and assembly. The tour came back to the conference room where it started with a question and answer session led by Mike Reznicek.
