NOTES FROM PAT CULLEN
President of Twin Cities Chapter CCAI
TO: Members and Friends of the TC-CCAI
SEPTEMBER BEGINNING:
Our Twin City Chapter begins its program year this September. Our Chapter Board
of Directors has been communicating
with one another and attended an August Board meeting to pull together what we
believe will be another outstanding year of TC Chapter events.
THANK YOU:
Thanks to everyone who attended a Chapter event or events in the past. We trust
that the time you invested was worth your while.
Also a major thank you to the hole sponsors of our yearly Golf Classic.
Major thanks to our thirteen TC Chapter Benefactors who are newsletter advertisers and Golf Classic hole sponsors as well as supporters of our TC-CCAI.
I also personally thank our TC Board members who continue to work behind the scenes to make our Chapter run and function as well as it does.
PROGRAM YEAR:
Mark Walsworth is our Program Chairman for this year. Mark has a variety of
events lined up for us. We will continue to have a mix
of dinner meetings and plant tours. In regard to plant tours, we start off this
year’s program with a plant tour of Cybex International, the exercise
equipment manufacturer located in Owatonna, MN. Look elsewhere in this
newsletter for details on the Cybex tour as well as other events scheduled
for the 2008-09 year.
Just in case you were not
aware, our TC Chapter in partnership with MnTAP will be sponsoring another
Minnesota Paint and Powder Expo in March of 2009.
Look for Expo details in this issue of the newsletter and in mailings and
industry publications in the future.
POT of MONEY: At
each monthly meeting for the last two years the Chapter has sponsored a cash
drawing awarded to a Chapter member in attendance.
If the member whose name is drawn is not present, $25.00 will be added to the
Pot of Money for the next monthly meeting.
We will continue with this program for the coming year.
NEW MEMBERS: We
will also continue a program initiated last year – “Dinner Guest of the TC
Board”. Every brand new TC Chapter member will receive
his first regular dinner or tour meeting as a no charge paid admission. The TC
board will pick up the meeting charge for the qualified new member
attending his/her first meeting as a new TC Chapter member. New members
attending their first meeting should touch base with Membership
Chairman Jim Henningsen or myself and let it be known that they are in
attendance.
CHAPTER BOARD MEMBERS:
This year’s TC Board of Directors is made up of area industry professionals that
include: Pat Cullen – President, Mark Walsworth
– Vice President, Jim Docken – Treasurer, Tim Milner – Secretary,
Doug Van Duyne, Jim Henningsen, Paul Pagel, Mike Nugent,
Scott Berg, Deb Savage
and Angela Kokesh.
We also continue to get major help and assistance on a regular basis from Roger Nelsen who is our Chapter Web Site Master and Phil Ruggiero who is our Chapter Coordinator.
MORE ON CHAPTER BOARD:
From time to time I have been
asked about the duties of Chapter Board Members and what do they do. We have
recently formalized a kind of job description
guide to being a Board Member. We would expect each member:
- To be a National member of the CCAI (a must)
- To attend 75% of the Chapter B.O.D. monthly meetings
- To attend at least a third of Chapter meetings/events
- To be involved in at least one of the following:
o Chair a standing committee
o Chair a specific Chapter meeting per year
o Be an officer of our Chapter
There are lots of
opportunities to volunteer one’s talents toward monthly events and helping to
plan ahead for these events. If you have further interest
in our board activities, ask one of our board members at a future TC
Chapter event.
WEB SITES: Be sure
to check into our Chapter web site at
www.ccatc.com for additional information on TC Chapter happenings as well as
photos of
recent events. Occasionally I will receive a telephone call about a meeting or
tour event regarding something specific to the event. Often, I can point
the caller to our web site for the event details. Also, be aware of the National
CCAI web site for a broader view of CCAI events at
www.ccaiweb.com.
WORDS TO CONSDER: Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
CCAI MISSION STATEMENT:
The Chemical Coaters Association International is a technical and professional organization that provides information and training on surface coating technologies.
YOU ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US: On behalf of Twin Cities Chapter of the CCAI, our TC Board of Directors welcomes members and non-members to all of our meetings and plant tours as well the additional events that we sponsor as a supplement to our regular programs.
